Lately the trend is finding foods that are good for you, while having the least harmful Global Impact. According to NPR's Weekend Edition: Fair Trade Organic is still in. Antioxidants are out. Junk Food is now Snack Food, with the junk ingredients removed. Wild Caught fish, Free Range meats, and Locally Grown produce are in, in, in. This means that bananas are out for Michigan eaters. What this does to the global economy, who knows? But the local economy is key. The local farms and markets are the ones to use. Eating out is more challenging. Zingerman's owns land and will be growing its own foods. Perhaps the People's Food Co-Op should put in a gourmet restaurant. Processed foods are a distant speck in the rearview mirror. You can help the environment and improve your health at the same time, through your diet. Responsible consumption is a win-win. Big meals are out. Small plates are in. Reduction sauce is out. Reduction is in. The blood orange is the new superfood. Pomegranates are hard to eat, but very good for you. Caffeine is still King, and a war will be waged between coffee and tea. Dark Chocolate is the way to go. Dessert is back, and it's delicious.
