Will Books Disappear?
Norman Mailer, in a final interview with Terry Gross, speculated that one day, books will become obsolete. Are publishers bound to suffer the same fate as record companies? Anyone can publish their book online. Or plagiarize one. It could be as simple as copying and pasting.
When digital information is all we have, what happens to copyright restrictions? Are we entering the Wild West of publishing? Who will police the onslaught of new traffic over the internet?
