UCiP at Eastern Michigan University Welcomes High School Students

EMU Fall Conference Welcomes High School Students...and Teachers

The annual UCiP Conference (Undergraduate Conference in Philosophy), organized and hosted for over a decade by Eastern Michigan University's Department of Philosophy and History, invites all high school students and teachers to attend this major philosophy gathering.

A Further Chance to Present and Talk Together about Big Questions

Not only are high school students and their teachers invited to participate at the UCiP sessions.

Conference organizers have created a High School section--and session-to encourage students to give their own presentations on a philosophy-related topic, dilemma or question they are passionate about.

The EMU organizers, led by Philosophy and History Department Head, Peter Higgins, are excited about opening up the popular UCiP event to high school students. A2Ethics is honored to promote and support the UCiP high school section initiative by sponsoring a High School Presentation prize.

Essential Partners: Teachers

High school teachers are the most significant partners in making this initiative a success. We believe the benefits to you are many. Participation in a philosophy conference expands your learning strategies and creative lesson planning. Real-world learning situations with students develop motivation and resilience as well as self-confidence and social intelligence. Moreover, as you already know, conferences are perfect networking events that may lead you in new career directions.

A2Ethics' experience with high school teachers holds this simple truth: Teachers always contend with scarce resources. Somehow, and in a multitude of ways, teachers know how to make the finite...infinite in educating and looking out for the best interests of their students.
